Jira Integration
Connect Jira to look up story details directly during estimation sessions.
What Jira integration provides
When connected to Jira, facilitators can enter a Jira issue key (e.g., PROJ-123) when starting a session. GiveItPoints will automatically fetch the story title and description, saving time and reducing context switching during sprint planning.
Setting up Jira
Open organization settings
Navigate to your organization page and click Settings.
Create a Jira API token
Visit the Atlassian API Tokens page and create a new token. See the detailed Jira API token instructions in your org settings.
Enter your credentials
In the organization settings, enter your Atlassian email address and paste the API token.
Use story keys in sessions
When starting a session, enter a Jira issue key. GiveItPoints will fetch the story details automatically.
Security
Your Jira API token is encrypted with AES-256-GCM before being stored in the database. The raw token is never persisted. Only the organization owner can view or update the integration settings. You can revoke the token at any time from the Atlassian API Tokens page.
